A History of The Hogarth GroupWelcome to The Hogarth Group, an independent company with a rich history, a small and dedicated management team, and limitless opportunities. Our Foundations
The Hogarth Group is a group of companies operating principally in the health, leisure and construction markets. It is a family owned company that commenced operating in 1959, when Colin White (19 Nov 1930 to 28 June 2019) first became principal of his own firm of Chartered Surveyors, specialising in sports, health and leisure.
Colin moved swiftly to specialise in the design of squash and other single-sports clubs, designing in excess of 30 such establishments worldwide. Predicting the demise of such clubs as profitable enterprises, Colin built on experience in the USA and moved to the design and ownership of health and leisure facilities. He subsequently created a profitable and resilient private business.A Family Business
Patrick White, the younger of Colin’s two sons, commenced work for the family in 1991 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1994. Patrick was tragically killed in a swimming accident whilst in the Seychelles on a family holiday in August 2004. His vision combined with his unique style and quest for excellence still shapes many aspects of the daily operations of The Hogarth Group today.
Dan White entered the construction industry in 1981 and established his own firm of building contractors in 1983. As the programme of conversions and renovations undertaken by The Hogarth Group expanded from 1986, Dan joined the Group as Development Director, amidst a series of other pursuits. Subsequent to his brother’s tragic death, Dan fulfilled the role of Managing Director for the Group, in his own inimitable style, and continues to develop and grow the Group with the innovation and passion that has shaped The Hogarth since its conception.Site Heritage
The Lambton Place site in Kensington W11 was acquired in the late 1960's and soon opened as Lambton Squash Club. Throughout the 1970's and early 1980's Lambton Squash Club met with considerable success but it became clear in the 1980's that a profitable business concern situated in a prime London site should offer more than a single sport.
The Chiswick site in Airedale Avenue, London W4, was acquired in 1978 and a decision was made to develop the site on country club lines, with health and sports facilities. The Hogarth Health Club, which opened in 1981, was one of the very first of such clubs in Europe and carried the first range of Nautilus equipment outside the USA. The success of this pioneering business led the Group in 1987 to redevelop Lambton Squash Club as Lambton Place Health Club.Seeking a large site with potential for extensive outdoor recreation and sport, the Group acquired the 27-acre Manor House Grounds in May 1997. Construction began at the end of 1998 and The Park Club opened in January 2000. The Club was a departure from the health & fitness model, offering a much broader range of services and providing for the needs of the family.Due to changes in Notting Hill, a unique opportunity to sell Lambton Place Health Club presented itself to the Board and Lambton was sold in December 2007.In 2013 the Company embarked on another major refurbishment plan of The Hogarth, including a £1 million investment in state of the art Technogym Artis Gymnasium. Nerio Allessandri, President and Founder of Technogym, officially opened this innovative new line of equipment as the first installation in the UK and the 3rd installation in the world. Once again The Hogarth Group were leading the field with key partners.Due to further changes in the health, fitness and leisure market in July 2017, David Lloyd leased 5.5 acres of the original Park Club site including the main Club House. A year later David Lloyd’s parent Group purchased the lease. Within the remaining 21.5 acres, The Park Club Limited was reinvented and now trades as Club Des Sports.Club Des Sports facilities rapidly expanded to include 5/7/9 and 11 aside floodlit 3G pitches, tennis courts, netball courts, cricket nets and ECB pitch, dance school, cafe and a large indoor dojo. Specialist partners provide one to one, group and team coaching for the West London Community. No membership is required and participants of all ages and abilities – including elite athletes – participate on World Class FIFA and World Rugby Sporting and associated facilities! In 2019, Dan took the decision to further diversify the Group by converting the home of his late father into The Door W4, a boutique aesthetics and dental business regulated by Care Quality Commission. The business opened in June 22, achieved a CQC “GOOD” inspection in June 23 and is flourishing with new doctors and surgeons treating at this truly unique health, wellness and aesthetics space in the grounds of The Hogarth Club.

Under the direction of Colin White, The Group's design arm established a worldwide client and project list for designing, building and sometimes managing clubs from Kuala Lumpa to Reykjavik as well as the Group's own Clubs in London.Under Colin, Patrick and Dan’s direction Hogarth Leisure has also built and developed residential properties, principally in London but elsewhere in the UK and abroad.Hogarth Leisure also provides central support and direction to each of the Group’s operating businesses by providing specialist knowledge in the areas of Finance, Operations, Sales and Marketing, Developments and Human Resources.

Daniel White - Chairman
Dan established his own firm of building contractors in 1983. As his father, Colin White (FRICS) was busy founding and developing squash and health clubs and The Hogarth Group, Dan became Hogarth Group Development Director with a programme of conversions, renovations and new building work rapidly undertaken. Dan has been responsible for the management of all of the Group's UK construction projects, for both internal and external clients. The tragic death of his younger brother Patrick in August 2004 led to his appointment as Group Managing Director. The Group has evolved under Dan’s leadership with the sale of The Park Club, the establishment of Club Des Sports, further property additions and developments including launch of a new health, wellness, dentistry and aesthetics company - The Door W4. Dan now chairs The Hogarth Group.
Tim Slater - Group Managing Director
Tim joined the Group back in 1989 as an undergraduate in Business Studies (Service Industries). Having graduated, he has held positions as Senior Physiologist in the Gym, National Sales Manager for two US equipment brands, General Management of the Hogarth Health Club and Sales and Marketing Director. Tim is now based at The Hogarth Club, and oversees all sites and business interests for The Hogarth Group as Group Managing Director.
